4. Strawberry Sombrero Cocktail
We are in love with this creamy and rich cocktail from mixthatdrink.com
Much like the eternal classic strawberries and cream, the richness of the milk in this creamy recipe cuts the natural sweetness of the strawberries. This creates a well-balanced concoction you’ll want to sip on all night long. Which you’ll be able to do since this recipe caters to lightweights. It has no hard liquors since it’s based around Kahlua which is only 40 proof.
This is a delightful sipping drink and a great choice for parties where you want to moderate alcohol intake.
Best of all, it only requires three ingredients and takes all of about two minutes to make!
First, gather your ingredients:
1 ounce Kahlua
2 teaspoon strawberry syrup
3 ounces milk
Pour all three ingredients into a cocktail glass. Stir until the color is even and consistent. Garnish with a strawberry and enjoy!
3. Grilled Pineapple Margarita with Jalapeno
For a more complicated cocktail, with amazing layered flavors, try this recipe from platingsandpairings.com
The most incredible blend of sweet, spicey, and smoky, this cocktail is sure to be on-demand all summer long. It’s the perfect mix of caramelized pineapple, sizzling jalapeno, and a balancing splash of vanilla.
It pairs superbly with traditional Mexican food as well!
Don’t let yourself get intimidated if you haven’t tried infusing tequila or caramelizing pineapple slices before. It really couldn’t be simpler.
First, make sure you’ve got the ingredients:
Caramelized Pineapple Slices
1 pineapple (cut into 1-inch thick slices )
Jalapeno Infused Tequila
1 cup silver tequila
1 jalapeno (sliced into rings)
3 ounces jalapeno infused tequila
1 ounce triple sec
2 1-inch thick slices of grilled pineapple (chilled)
3 Tablespoons fresh lime juice ((juice of 1 lime))
2 Tablespoons agave syrup (to taste)
3/4 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Grilled pineapple and lime wedges for garnish
Citrus salt or kosher salt (for rimming your glass)
To infuse the jalapeno, simply slice up a single pepper and toss it in a jar with the tequila (we recommend a glass jar, as plastic can sometimes capture flavors a bit). Let the jar sit for 12 hours, then give it a sip. If it isn’t spicy enough, let it sit another 12. If you think it’s good to go then strain out the jalapenos. The tequila you don’t use can be stored in the freezer.
Cut the pineapple into 1 inch thick rings and oil it lightly as you preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Grill it for about five minutes on each side until you have some nice grill marks. Pop the slices in the fridge until they’re nice and chilly. We recommend doing this when you make the jalapeno infused tequila so that the slices have plenty of time to chill.
Add all the ingredients to a blender and process until smooth. You’ll need a fairly powerful blender for this, which is why we recommend investing in this one, available at Best Buy.
If you don’t like any texture in your drinks, you may want to strain out any stray pineapple pulp. Then just salt the rim of your glass and garnish with pineapple pieces, jalapeno slices, and/or lime wedges.
